Just as life is like a rollercoaster with it's ups and downs, so it is with my journaling efforts. Gotta be authentic, right?

Where did THE LAST 3 YEARS go? Playing catch up is too overwhelming so I'll just try to keep going as if I never stopped.

That's Life

Well, we all know how the project cycle works. First, you start out wanting to "reorganize" a closet. That turns into the entire room. While you're at it, you want to add new trim. While you're getting the lumber, you figure. why not add shelving. If we're getting all the tools out, we might as well put some garden boxes together. Then, it's time to paint. While we have the painting supplies out, we might as well refinish some furniture. Finally, the hubby draws the line. No more projects!!

I was so excited to post all the pictures of our re-model/re-decorate/re-organize extravaganza.

Yesterday afternoon as I turned off the vacuum, I breathed a sigh of relief and thought to myself, "Good. Now that all my projects are done, I'll take a break for a few weeks."

When Brett walked in the door I waited for the shock & surprise to register on his face. "Wow! It's sooo clean!" (He's really good to let me know he appreciates me- especially when I'm standing there expectantly waiting for the compliment!)

I could see it written all over his face (excuse the cliche); now we could finally stop all this "project nonsense!"

It lasted a total of one hour.

After the dinner dishes were cleared away, the laundry (somewhat caught up) the kids bathed & ready for bed, it happened. We heard a splashing sound that was much too loud to be normal.

The dishwasher was leaking. It ran into the heater vents, found its way into the ceiling vents, and FLOODED THE BASEMENT!! Could Somebody be trying to tell me something? I guess relaxation will have to be put off for another few weeks.

If You Could Hie To...

Kolob Canyon- Our favorite little getaway!
Last weekend we took off on our soon-to-be-annual hiking trip just south of Cedar!

We love this little hike in Kolob Canyon.
Kye doesn't love to keep his hat on. I keep telling him he'd better get used to a life full of hats and sunscreen... :)
I wanted to really "rough it" out, so I left the hand sani and wet wipes in the car.
But I couldn't forget the camera (proof of my "roughing it")
Hunter took this picture. Pretty darn good, if you ask me.
Brett laughed when I told him this was the most challenging hike I've ever been on. (Hey- we had to cross a river three times- it was crazy!)
The boys loved the hike, but were probably more excited to swim in the pool.
And wrestle & jump on the bed. (What can I say, the hotel is the one place I'll let them go crazy all over the furniture.)
So even though Brett carried Kye pretty much the whole way, I felt pretty good about myself with my hiking backpack and walking stick!
I'm going to have to get used to this, having boys. What do you think?

AAAAAAAANTS!!!

YUCK! I woke up this morning to find these teeny, tiny, creepy, crawly ANTS swarming a crumb in my KITCHEN!! In our 5 years living here I have never had a single icky ANT in my kitchen (and last night was definitely not the first time I went to bed without sweepingso what's going on?)! How did they get in? How do I get rid of them FOR GOOD?! HELP!!!

It Doesn't Get Better Than This...

I've been meaning to upload these for the last few weeks, but I've been way too distracted with "the list." But, I have to take a step back every now and then and enjoy these little moments. I love it when my three boys "play" together!
Hunter has to run in a circle every time he catches the ball- it's his "victory dance," so to speak.
I can't help but laugh at Kye's little dance he does when he's excited-

I laugh even more at how raggy he looks with both shoes un-tied! (where is this child's mother?)

Filling My "Extra" Time...

The show has now been over for almost a month and I still haven't seemed to catch up on life, probably because of all the projects I've started to fill my "extra" time...

After a few (seven) months of trying to decide whether to move or not, we finally feel good about our new plan to refinance & stay for atleast two more years. So, now that I know I'm staying around, the home-improvement itch is here:

1. Repaint room- check
2. Paint bathroom- check
3. Add more shelving/reorganize closet- check
4. Build new computer desk- check (here at the Johnson home, we look at furniture in a box as a wonderful learning experience- not the time-consuming, pull-your-hair-out, crappy-directions, pain in the *** project it really is) ;)
5. Reorganize computer area- check
6. Clean carpets- partial check
7. Sale vehicle- check
8. Find new vehicle for screamin' deal- check
9. Build shed- check (okay, so we maybe cheated on that one and hired it out)
10. Have shed built for screamin' deal- check
11. Paint shed- check

Still needed:
12. Clean out garage/move items into shed
13. Move boys into same room
14. Repaint boy's room
15. Add shelves/hooks/etc. to boy's room
16. Reorganize laundry room
17. Catch up on piles of yard work (that is a separate list on its own)
18. Finish cleaning carpets
19. Catch up on scrapbooking (this one always seems to get bumped down to the bottom of the list)

Maybe number twenty should be "quit being such a blogging slacker-" what do ya think?
