Thats me.
Meet Minnie Mouser, "Mousy" for short, formerly known as Mousetrap, but renamed when the realization sunk in that she probably wouldn't be living up to that name anytime soon...
A few weeks ago we were un-pleasantly surprised to find a little mouse family living under our shed. After spending last summer on my tiptoes due to the attack of the voles, and after trying everything from poison, to hiring an exterminator, to smoke bombs, to underground sonic sounders, the fact was this:
I was purely just sick and tired of being terrified of my own back yard.
So, I figured we might as well try out our last resort & get a cat. Well, make that a kitten...
And, although I swore to myself I would not have an inside animal, what can I say?
I'm a sucker.
First, we felt bad because it was cold out in the garage, so we said she could be allowed on the tile only. Then, it turned into "okay, maybe I'll just hold her on my lap- but she's definitely NOT allowed on the carpet or furniture!" (I'm really worried about getting kitty dander all over & making allergic people uncomfortable when they come over). Well, what did I do? I then went ahead & let her cuddle with me in my bed!?! I'm wondering how long it will be until she infiltrates and OWNS our entire house!?!
Look at this happy little cat owner. (Note that he is still a little bit too nervous to hold her, yet he'll lie there on the rug with his face right up against hers).
The thing is, I got this cat for a purpose- to get the mice! Or atleast keep them away from our yard... Unfortunately I didn't know or think about the fact that kittens are scared of their own shadow- AND grass! How is she supposed to get rid of the mice for me if she doesn't even like the outdoors!?!
I guess I must add in her defense, she's a very mellow cat and hasn't bitten or scratched these two rough little boys... And, she is pretty dang cute... And the kids (and maybe me) absolutely ADORE her...
Look at the joy she brings to this little face!
